This unit will deal with the importance of health and how to have a healthy lifestyle.

See the list below containing some good and bad habits, we should all try to stick or get rid of.

  • Do sport regularly.
  • Eat vegetables and fruit.
  • Have a varied diet.
  • Avoid eating junk food.
  • Don’t drink alcohol.
  • Don’t smoke.
  • Eat less salt.
  • Cut down on sugar and fat.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Eat regularly.

 

Sometimes, though, we find it difficult to be healthy or to avoid having accidents. Have a look at the list of illnesses and accidents and some of the treatments recommended for each of them.

When we are give a piece of advice, we generally use the modal verb should, to avoid being rude or impolite.  We can also use the expression ‘Why don’t you…’ to give some advice.

Example:            You should stay in bed.

                        Why don’t you take an aspirin?
